THE REALITY TEMPLES
Richard Bone

No matter how far afield Richard Bone goes, he always has a traditional song structure, however tenuous, to support his sound pieces. There is the classic foreground-a melody, middle ground-accompaniment and background elements. This is unusual in the field of electronic composers. Sonic explorers like Steve Roach or Vidna Obmana, although full of layer-upon-layer of rarified sounds, rarely give the listener a melody to follow. Bone is very imaginative with his sound colors, but that sense of song structure follows him like a shadow.

Another quality you’ll always find with Bone’s music is his quirkiness. In fact, his own label, before joining the family of Spiralight, is called Quirkworks. Combine that innate quirkiness with a wicked sense of humor and there you have the Richard Bone experience.

Of The Reality Temples, the composer comments:

"My intention was to create a work that blended my love of 60’s psychedelia with my previous ambient stylings. I wanted the tracks (and song titles) to reflect a sense of whimsy and "mind expansion ... My hope is that the music tends to make one "put on the headphones and light incense"…"

To quote Monty Python: "Say no more, sir." -
