Piero Scaruffi's review of:

ASCENSIONISM
Richard Bone

Ascensionism (Quirkworks, 2000) concludes the trilogy of Electropica and Coxa on a mystical note. It is a sequence of half-whispered, soft and delicate melodic themes, arranged with decadent and aristocratic gusto (Waters Of Assiyah, Jhana) and sometimes with brio (Walkin' With The Dharma Bums). If occasionally Bone slips into trivial synth-pop (Sister Samadhi), the celestial atmosphere of Ariel Dane more than make up for it. This is also his jazzier album. In fact, one could claim that, with these last two albums, Bone has moved from the electronic camp to the jazz camp.
